Date and location

The conference will be held from Thursday 3rd to Friday 4th of April 2008, at the «Institut Lumière» in the town centre of Lyon.

From Gallo-Roman remains to modern architecture, not forgetting Romanesque and Gothic buildings, Lyon has preserved its ancient districts echoing with memories of its 2000 years of history.

The « Institut Lumière » has its home in the heart of Monplaisir, that historical area of Lyon where the Lumière brothers invented the Cinématograph. It is in this place that in 1895, they shot the first film in the history of the cinema: «Sortie d’Usine».

Since 1982, the « Institut Lumière » has become a museum, a cinema library, a documentation center, a place for preservation, and a home to memories.
